The Jamaican men’s 4×100 relay team won gold in 37.04 seconds, breaking its world record.
The tiny Island of Jamaica, known for its beautiful beaches and the home of reggae music shocked the world in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China, when it’s athletes led by the incomparable Usain Bolt virtually destroyed the competition. The U.S.A and the rest of the world could only watch in disbelief as Usain Bolt led the Jamaican team to another outstanding victory in the 4 x 100m relays at the World Championship in Daegu South Korea while breaking their own world record that was set in the 2008 Olmpics in China. This record was set without the injured Asafa Powell, who had the fastest times in the 100m this year.
Many pundits are now saying that the U.S. team is too rattled by the speed of the Jamaican team to perform
at their best and apart from Tyson Gaye the Jamaicans are now superior to the U.S. which has been the best for years. It’s amazing how can such a tiny island produce so many world class athletes?
Jamaica is definitely the world’s leader in sprinting, Usain Bolt had a mishap in the 100m finals but that only helped to showcase the huge reservoir of Jamaican talent when another Jamaican Yohan Blake was crowned World Champion.
Jamaica has proven to the world that the performance in Bejing China was no fluke and they have definitely mastered this craft of producing top quality sprinters of both sexes.
