The DOJ (Department of Justice) file an injunction to block the proposed $39 billion purchase of T-Mobile by AT&T, arguing that the merger would not be good for consumers or competition.
This could certainly be the case as prices would be higher even if the service is be better (which is still debatable) I personally don’t think this merger would be beneficial for customers, it is always better to have more companies to choose from and this merger would create only three major carriers Sprint, Verizon and AT&T/T-Mobile.
T-Mobile has been an excellent carrier over the years providing A+ customer service and excellent competition to the other carriers I had before, probably because it is owned by a German company, Deutsche Telekom. I know this is going to be a long fight, AT&T has already signal it’s intention to fight the decision in court.
I hope the merger does not go through but as we all know money is always the determining factor and $39 billion is a lot of money to ignore.
