Hi parents, I am here just to let you know that having your children learn how to swim early will be beneficial to them. They will be able to help themselves if you are unavailable to assist them or if they get in trouble while in the water. The best time to teach your kids how to swim is at age 6 months to 2 years. This is when they are unaware or innocent of all the dangers that water can cause and rely totally on the person teaching them. As children reaches the age of 5 they tend to become fearful of water and tend to trust less and rely more on themselves. So if you have a child over the age of 5 years it will be a lot more difficult to teach him or her how to swim than if you started at an earlier age. This is the problem I am having with my 7 yr old daughter now, at an earlier age she was fearless in the water and I was fearful, I made the mistake of not teaching her to swim then and now she is fearful and I have less fear; what irony.
