Peer Pressure – A Teens Perspective

Throughout the path of life, there are multiple common elements that people are faced with and peer pressure is one of them. Peer pressure is the common influence of others unto another person, whether it be positive or negative. However, it usually results with negative effects because people are usually forced into doing wrong things. I can confidently say that everyone has experienced some form of peer pressure in their life and even given in to the pressure. When surrounded by a group of friends and even family members it becomes easy for one to give in to peer pressure and do things that they wouldn’t normally do. Its simply because one feels the need to fit in or strengthen their popularity with the group that they are in, not because they actually want to do whatever is being asked.  I honestly feel that when placed in a position like that, one should take an inner evaluation of him or herself and see if what they are about to do will hinder their self worth or morals in the future. We need to be fully aware that peer pressure will come in many ways throughout our entire life; in school and in the work place. In that, we should be fully grounded in our own behavior patterns and things and actions that we would do without the influence of others.
